What a mad year so far eh?!! Here's an update on what's been going on behind the scenes at HSP.
We're now over a quarter of the way towards our target!
After a long period of radio silence, HBC called a meeting to give us an update and to discuss next steps for the skatepark project.
Not much to report as we are just waiting for the consultants to release the regeneration plan which has been delayed until Dec.
To get a better idea of what is achievable, we enlisted the help of some skatepark design experts to visit the site and give us some pointers.
To help us give the skatepark designers a brief for the kind of park we wanted and to get a ball park estimate together we pulled this rough doc together.
In January, HBC released the Hayling Island Seafront Regeneration Analysis and Feasibility Study which raised some opportunities and challenges.
To engage key stakeholder groups and to fundraise, we had to formalise our group by signing a constitution and establishing a steering group.
To help us communicate and organise ourselves, we set up a facebook group and welcome any new members who want to help support our campaign.
In November 2018 HBC arranged an community consultation with skatepark users and local residents in order to scope out whether there was any interest in getting a new skatepark built.
